It is a surgery to increase the size of breasts by inserting implants or prosthesis, which can be from silicone, saline or polyurethane solution.
Prostheses are inserted by small incisions located at the nipple level, so that the scars are not perceptible, without altering the nipple sensitiveness.

The location of implants depends on each case in particular, and for that reason it is selected according to each patient. This location can be subglandular, i.e. behind the mammary gland, or submuscular behind the pectoral muscle. The most recommended is to define the technique advised by the Plastic Surgeon, who will determine which one is the best according to each case.

This procedure is used to reduce the size of breasts improving not only the physical appearance of women, but also their quality of life; because in some cases, the size and sizeable weight of breasts could interfere in the normal activity producing pains in neck and back, generating bad habits of position. This surgery reduces the volume and size of breasts, thus correcting such alterations.

According to breast size, different techniques can be used:  If the mammary hypertrophy is not so big, some techniques can be used around the nipple leaving some imperceptible scars.  However, in moderate and severe hypertrophies, it is used greater incisions that can leave inverted T-shape scars, which extend from the nipple to the inframammary fold.
